will be responsible for the payment o the whole rent and the proportion payable to him by the other officers will be a matter for private agreement between the officers concerned. In certain exceptional circumstances the Guartering Committce may decide the proportions payable by cach officer.

3. Official Accommodation.

Hotal, hostel and other accommodation recognised as of similar type will for the time being, be regarded as official accomodation.

The Treasury will continue to pay the cost of such accommodation, and a deduction of a fixed rent as shown in Appendix D will be made on pay sheets from the salaries of officers occupying such accommodation. The quartering Authority when notifying officers of their allocation to such accommodation will at the same time inform them of the amount which the Treasury is prepared to pay for the allotted accommodation and the deduction which will be made from the officers' salaries. Any extra charges over the amount stated as payable by the Treasury, will be payable by the officer and will not be met by the Treasury. he Treasury will only pay the cost of accommodation in hotels, hostels, etc., if it has buen allotted to the officer by the Quartering Authority.

9. Government Furniture.

(a) Oflicers who opt for the new terms of service will be required

to pay 10 of the rent they are paying for their quarters, as reut for Government (urniture if that is provided.

(b) If an officer rents his accomodation privately but hires his

Furniture from Goverment, he will par for the furniture ly, of the rent which he woul pay if he were occupying Goverment quarters of the grade appropriate to his salary.

Moto. As the full scale of Government fur iture is not yet available

for all quarters, only half the rate laid down above, i.e. 3,-, will be charged until further notice.

When an officer moves into or gives up Goverment quarters of any kind for which a rent is payable or moves from one set of quarters to another notification must be sent in the for at Appendix C to the quartering Authority, Accountant-General and Director on Audit. If this is not done without delay pay sheets may be held up.

11. The operation of General Orders luб, lu7, 108, 109, 110, 111 and 112 as set out in Secretariat Circular 0.17/47 (and subsequently amended by Secretariat Circular 10.78/47 and Secretariat Route Circulars Nos.17/47 and 22/47) will be suspended with effect from 1st January, 1947, for officers who opt to come on to or are appointed on the revised salarios.

The operation of Secretariat Circular o.55/46 on the subject of deductions for hotel accommodation will be suspended with effect from 1st January, 1947, for officers who opt to come on to or are appointed on the revised salaries.
